“اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّيْ أَسْأَلُكَ عِلْماً نَافِعاً، وَأَعُوْذُ بِكَ مِنْ عِلْمٍ لَا يَنْفَعْ“
“O Allah! I ask You for beneficial knowledge, and I seek refuge with You from knowledge that has no benefit”
Transliteration: Allahumma inni as-aluka ‘ilman nafï-‘an, wa a-‘uzu bika min ‘ilmin la yanfa’
Alhamdulillah, most of us have memorized this du’a, We have been repeating it many times in the beginning of our classes. In sha Allah, we will memorize more du’as the same way. We will try to memorize one du’a per week, in sha Allah.
Regarding the above du’a, it was taught by our beloved Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم.
Jabir Ibn Abullah narrated, “The Messenger of Allah (Prayers and peace of Allah be upon him) said, ‘Ask Allah for beneficial knowledge, and seek refuge with Allah from knowledge that does has no benefit” [Deemed good by Al-Albani]
»سلوا الله علما نافعا وتعوذوا بالله من علم لا ينفع«حسنه الألباني
We learned that there are two types of knowledge, beneficial knowledge and non-beneficial knowledge. We are asked to get benefial knowledge and avoid non-beneficial knowledge through this du’a.
Remember! Ask for the beneficial knowledge.
